Altherma
Altherma brings the benefits of ground to water and air to air HPs to create a flexible and cost effective boiler replacement that delivers the highest comfort and optimized performance.
Altherma is used with low temperature heating systems, widely recognised as the most comfortable home heating solution It will thoroughly heat the house and provide sanitary warm water all year round… and in summer cooling can be delivered if necessary Altherma can be used with: -
all commercially available floor heating systems - low temperature radiators - other heat sources such as boilers.
Additionally, the cooling option can be used in summer to cool via radiators and floor elements or fan coil units for maximum refreshment.
1. Environmentally griendly – Low CO2 emissions, small TEWI (Total Equivalent Warming Impact -indicator of the global warming effect produced by a unit during its whole servicing life).
2. Increased comfort - Less difference between the heat source and the ambient room temp. Heating & Sanitary + Cooling.
3. Low maintenance – No fuel tanks nor chimneys
4. Low energy bills – no conventional fossil fuels which prices are increasing
5. Cooling option – possibility to cool in summer
6. No additional infrastructure required – no fuel tanks nor chimneys
7. Easy to install – no outside space required, applicable to new build as well as refurbished
8. Flexible configuration – allows optimal balance of initial investment with day-to-day operating costs;
Outdoor unit
The outdoor unit extracts free low temperature heat
from the surrounding air and increases its temperature.
Upgraded heat is then transmitted via the refrigerant
circuit to the indoor hydro-box.

Indoor hydro-box
The indoor hydro-box transfers the heat in the
refrigerant to the water circulated in the central
heating radiators, underfloor heating system and
sanitary hot water tank. In the combined heating &
cooling version of the indoor hydro-box cooling is
achieved by reducing the water
temperature to 4°C
and circulating it through fan coil units. The system
can also provide moderate cooling via the underfloor
heating system or radiators by limiting the lowest
water temperature. The preparation of sanitary hot
water is performed by switching the system from
cooling or heating to sanitary mode.
Sanitary hot water tank
(optional)
A purpose built stainless steel water tank, constructed
to maintain the highest levels of energy efficiency, is
available to meet sanitary hot water needs. The
combination of an electric booster heater in the upper
part of the
tank and a heat pump heat exchanger in
the lower part ensures the lowest possible energy
consumption with rapid water heating. In addition, a
built in function raises the water temperature to 70°C
or higher at least once a week to remove any
possibility of legionella growth.
